Bluff It! is a free, face-to-face knowledge bluffing party game for 4–8 players. The Honest One knows the answer, the Genius tries to identify them, and everyone else invents a convincing explanation. Join on your phones, then put them down and talk it out. What kind of game is Bluff It!?

Each round brings up an unusual term, phrase, or piece of knowledge and assigns three roles. The Honest One gets the real answer. The Genius listens to everyone's pitch and tries to identify the Honest One. The rest make up explanations that sound just believable enough. It’s less about memorizing facts and more about reading the room, thinking on your feet, and keeping a straight face.

Made for playing together in person

Your phone only shows your secret role and the round controls. Once everyone is ready, the fun happens around the table: pitching wild theories, asking follow-up questions, and trying not to laugh. Nobody gets eliminated, and you absolutely don’t need to study a rulebook to jump in.

A new role every round

The host plays too and can receive any role. Because roles shuffle randomly each round, you might be the brave defender of the truth in one round, and a master of plausible nonsense the next. The game draws its topics from language, history, folklore, science, psychology, philosophy, architecture, and other delightfully curious corners of knowledge.

From room to reveal

  1. Create a room

    The host sets a target score, then shares the room code, link, or QR code.

  2. Join the group

    Everyone enters a nickname and picks a favorite emoji. No account is needed.

  3. Check your role

    The game chooses one Honest One to see the real answer and one Genius to identify them.

  4. Explain in turn

    The Genius calls on each player, and everyone shares their version of the truth.

  5. Choose and reveal

    After questions and open discussion, the Genius makes a final choice, and the host reveals the real answer.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to download an app or create accounts?

No. Bluff It! is completely browser-based. Just open the link, enter a nickname, pick an emoji, and you're in.

Can we play with only four people?

Yes! The game works beautifully for 4–8 players. Once a room has eight people, it's full.

Will I struggle if I do not know much trivia?

Not at all. The real answer is provided to the one player who needs it. Everyone else gets to have fun improvising a wildly plausible explanation.

Is speaking time limited?

Nope! Reviewing the prompt, telling stories, asking follow-up questions, and discussing are all untimed. The Genius decides when everyone puts their phones down and starts speaking.

Is Bluff It! a boxed card game?

No. Bluff It! on playbluffit.com is an independent online game that runs in a web browser. It uses no physical cards, board, notepad, pencils, tokens, or other boxed components, and is not affiliated with similarly named tabletop products.
