Serious faces. Ridiculous answers.
How to spot a bluff as the Genius
The Genius is the only player who gives no explanation. You listen, ask questions and make one choice that cannot be taken back. This guide covers what you control during a round and how to use it to find the Honest One.

What the Genius controls
You end preparation, call on the other players by name in any order, move the game into discussion once everyone has spoken, and then open the choice screen and select a player on your own phone. The app asks you to confirm, because the selection cannot be changed. The host, who may or may not be you, presses reveal afterwards. You do not invent an explanation and the game never shows you the answer, so your clues are what people say and how they handle your questions.
Start from the odds of a blind guess
Exactly one of the other players in the round is the Honest One, and the game draws that player at random every round, so earlier rounds tell you nothing. A blind guess among three speakers in a four-player game is right one time in three. With eight players it is one in seven. That is your baseline: every question you ask is an attempt to do better than chance, and the larger the group, the more you need those questions.
Treat the speaking order as a clue
The app does not set a speaking order; you do. The first speaker is the only one who could not have borrowed from anyone, and the last has heard every other version and can adjust. Keep track of who spoke when and weigh it when you compare explanations. If two of them share an unusual detail, only the later speaker could have picked it up from the other, so ask that player where it comes from.
Hear everyone once before you ask
Let each player give a complete explanation before you ask anything. You get a clean first version from every speaker to compare against later, and players who have not spoken yet do not learn what you are going to probe.
Ask to hear it a second time
By the time questions open, everyone is speaking from memory: the Honest One of a short written answer whose meaning they must keep, a Bluffer of something improvised. After a question or two, ask the players you are still choosing between to say their explanation again in one sentence. With three speakers that can be all of them. You are not listening for identical wording but for whether the substance holds or quietly shifts. Treat it as a clue rather than proof: an Honest One may have added their own view the first time and dropped it the second, and a Bluffer with a short enough explanation can repeat it perfectly.
Test details without punishing honesty
Follow-up questions help, with one caution. The Honest One sees the correct answer during preparation, but not the extra background that is shown at the reveal. Asked for a detail beyond that answer, an honest player may say they do not know, or offer a guess. Neither is evidence of bluffing on its own. Be more wary of a player who meets every question with a confident new fact, or whose new details do not fit their first version.
Decide when you will stop
There is no timer and the selection cannot be changed, so nothing in the game tells you when to stop asking. Decide in advance how far you will go, for example one detail question for each player and a second telling from the two or three you are still choosing between, and then commit. A wrong guess does not cost you points, but the Bluffer you selected gains one, and when scores are close to the target that point can decide the game. Roles are assigned again in the next round.

A six-step questioning sequence
End preparation
Check that everyone has read their screen, then start the speaking stage and call the first player.
Hear every explanation
Call on each player in the order you choose, and do not interrupt anyone’s first version.
Open the questions
When everyone has spoken once, tap “Everyone has spoken — open questions” to move into discussion.
Ask each player one detail question
Compare how players handle the edge of what they know, not just whether they have an answer.
Ask to hear it again
Have the players you are still choosing between restate their explanation in one sentence, and let the table compare versions.
Select and commit
Tap “I have my answer”, select the player you believe is the Honest One and confirm. The host then reveals the answer and the points.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Genius know the answer?
No. The Genius sees the prompt only and learns the answer when the host reveals it.
Can the Genius change the selection?
No. The app asks you to confirm before the selection is final, and after that it cannot be changed. The host then reveals the result.
How many questions may the Genius ask?
There is no limit. Speaking and discussion are untimed, and the Genius decides when to move on to the choice.
Can the Genius select anyone?
Anyone else who is playing the round. A player who joined while the round was in progress watches it and cannot be selected until the next round.
Can the host be the Genius?
Yes. The host is a player and can be given any role. Whichever role they hold, only the host can start rounds, reveal results and skip a round.
